Creative Diversity at wohnpartner
Paintings, photography, literature or graffiti – art unfolds in many different ways. However, the one thing all kinds of art have in common, is that they bring people of different backgrounds, ages or interests together. Likewise, art is a means of empowerment and expression; it enables people to participate in their communities. But even more importantly, art has its own voice. It gives people the opportunity to express themselves concerning the topics that are relevant to them (e.g. changes within the structure of the society). In light of this, wohnpartner aims to promote and foster the creation of art by residents of Vienna’s municipal housing estates.
Over the last few years, wohnpartner together with municipal housing tenants has launched a large number of successful art related initiatives such as: ‘Verborgene Talente’, ‘Kunst und Kultur im Reumannhof’, ‘Weltenbummler’ or ‘Graffiti am Alfred-Kubin-Platz’. These initiatives showcase new perspectives of art and also offer help in understanding the value of art itself. This also encourages the exchange of ideas between those residents who show interest in the projects. The low-threshold service of these initiatives is what makes them special; they are all to be found in the municipal housing complexes and are within easy reach of the residents.
