A series of debates entitled ‘Living Spaces’ raises the interesting and urgent question: How do we have to plan and build in the future in the face of society's changing needs? Which concept of "space" is appropriate for this?
The IBA_Wien has awarded the IBA-Candidate status to the project idea ‘Lebensräume / Living Spaces’ and supports the development of a concrete and eventually realizable project through a discussion process, which takes place parallel to the actual project development on which it impacts.
Starting with the question "How will we live in the future?", current and foreseeable trends, as well as social developments which will significantly affect our lives and the requirements of our living spaces, are being discussed.
Further discussions/ questions:
- What will we live on?
- The neighborhood as a space of opportunity
- Providing usable space
- A legal and fair framework
To link the five discussions with the simultaneous process of project development, they are being recorded in sound and video and streamed unabridged as well as with a time-delay. The discussions will take place without an audience and are will then be available online with a specific time-frame for feedback (Twitter and e-mail). The most relevant contributions will then be included at the beginning of the next discussion round.
