More quality of life for everyone!

Both Nestroyplatz and Praterstraße, in the 2nd district, are going to be redesigned as part of a planned renovation project. Before the start, the local people were interviewed by the GB * (Urban Renewal Offices). What measures will help to make Nestroyplatz and Praterstrasse more attractive, making it a more popular spot?

For this purpose, the inhabitants of the 2nd district were interviewed. Ideas and suggestions could be presented and discussed in several working groups. The process of involving local residents was accompanied by experts from the local district regeneration office. In October 2017, the interim results were presented.

Selected participants discussed proposals and ideas in the themed working groups: "Walking and Crossing", "Cycling", "Motor Vehicle Traffic" and "Design and Quality of Life". On the basis of the results, goals were jointly formulated that would be included in the planning and redesign.

More than 200 people took part in the collection of ideas and brought in around 500 suggestions that were sorted, jointly processed and refined.

During the interim presentation of the results in October 2017, the following points were discussed:

• a possible pavement in front of the Hamakom theatre
• the continuation of the Baumallee in the lower part of Praterstraße
• the opening and redesign of Therese Krones Park
• the extension of the green-zone for pedestrians
• more possibilities for crossing Praterstraße
• increasing safety as an important aspect
• temporary shortening of the Praterstraße
• widening of cycle paths

Proposals and feedback from the interim presentation were forwarded to the relevant local authority. After evaluating the results, ideas and suggestions can be incorporated into the planned redesign.
