wohnfonds_wien is a private limited-profit organization. It has a dual-purpose directive:
Around 75 employees are involved in the above-mentioned tasks, as well as administrative services and public relations. They are managed by one CEO and an assistant manager.
Despite its independent limited-profit status and private nature, wohnfonds_wien has a strong relationship both strategically and financially with the City of Vienna. As an organisation it fulfils the strategic urban development plans and receives fees for its services to the city.
It coordinates property developers, housing stock owners, municipal departments and service centres of the City of Vienna. To ensure a high quality of social housing, it also takes responsibility for setting up the Developers´ Competition for new subsidized housing. The four areas of project quality - the four-pillars-model - have been officially set as: economics, social sustainability, architecture and ecology.
